ISLAND WOMEN IN A GLOBAL NETWORK: EXPERIENCE BEYOND OKINAWA

 

The symposium explores the possibility of “Island Women,” a new perspective on a gender identity for women whose life has been strongly affected by and connected to island environment. We try to find stories of women’s experience in different places and from diverse disciplinary perspectives.

島嶼地域で生活する女性、あるいは島嶼から移住をした女性はどのような経験をし、またコミュニティを築くうえでどのような役割をはたしているのだろうか。本シンポジウムでは海外に移住した沖縄女性の経験や他の島嶼地域における女性たちの経験を概観することによって、Island Womenというアイデンティティとそのグローバルネットワークの構築の可能性について探る。
