For nine years, as the signature journal of international Okinawan research, IJOS: International Journal of Okinawan Studies, has offered a place for international Okinawan research in Okinawa and from multiple disciplines contributed solutions to Ryukyuan and Okinawan issues and an in depth study of the area. Succeeding these achievements, OJIS: Okinawan Journal of Island Studies, our new peer-reviewed international journal in English, will start this academic year to widen our focus to islands and islandness.

OJIS is seeking interdisciplinary papers about islands or islandness. We are currently accepting scholarly papers and book reviews. We have plans at a later date to include a special section for other works such as interviews, research notes, poems and short stories.
